Structural design to the Nepal Building Code
A house that looks right but is designed wrongly is the most expensive mistake in construction. Our Engineers design the foundation and frame of your building to the Nepal Building Code and give the site team drawings they can build from without guessing.
Why structural design matters in Nepal
Nepal lies in an active seismic region, and the Nepal Building Code sets minimum requirements for earthquake resistance. Designing to it is not a formality: the size and reinforcement of footings, columns, beams and slabs decide how the building behaves when the ground moves. We start from the condition of your plot, not from a standard template.
What you receive
- Foundation and frame design for your building
- Reinforcement drawings the site team can follow
- Bar bending schedules, so steel is cut and ordered to the design
- Design that matches the architectural drawings, so the two never disagree on site
Existing buildings
If you own a building that worries you, or you want to add a floor, we assess what is there before recommending anything. Where strengthening is needed, we design the work to the current code and tell you plainly what it will involve.
Used with or without our construction
The structural design is a complete piece of work. You can take it to any contractor, or have us build from it, in which case the same Engineers who designed it inspect the reinforcement before every pour.
Questions
Can I get structural design without hiring you to build?
Yes. The drawings and bar bending schedules are a complete deliverable, and you can use them with any contractor.
Can you assess a building that is already standing?
Yes. We assess the existing structure first and design any strengthening to the current code.
Who checks that the site follows the design?
When we build, the Engineers inspect the reinforcement before every pour. If another contractor builds, we recommend you keep an Engineer on site at the same stage.
